Book - Can I Tell You About Asperger Syndrome? A Guide for Family and Friends

by: Jude Welton

About the author:
I had this book recommended to me by a professional when we were going through the diagnosis process. It is simply written and easy for anyone of any age to understand. My 9-year-old with A.S. felt relieved when he read it because he could relate to Adam in the story and I believe this book helped him understand himself better. We are now reading it with our 7-year-old, who had noticed his brother was different than he is. This book is written in simple enough language to help him understand his brother. The adults I have shared it with have also found it helpful.
When you're faced with this diagnosis there are many great books you can read, but there is so much information to absorb it is easy to feel overwhelmed. This book keeps it simple enough to absorb the main points. Adam, the boy in the book, also tells readers that although there are many characteristics of A.S. they do not apply to every individual with Asperger's. For example he explains that he is bothered by loud noises, but others may be bothered by the feel of certain fabrics against their skin.

I highly recommend this book to anyone starting to learn about Asperger's Syndrome and/or looking for a good book to share with others.
