Facebook - Asperger’s Parent Connect

Community:

I am an Asperger’s Parenting Specialist, Speaker and Seminar presenter, inspiring parents to live life beyond judgments and bring joy, energy and confidence to the role of raising a child living on the Autism Spectrum. I also work with Teachers, University students and Specialists to understand the challenges children living with Asperger’s syndrome, and their families, face every day. As well as speaking and writing, I also present regular seminars “Food, Family and Aspergers” together with my husband Gerry and Autism Diet Specialist Kris Barrett. The focus on helping parents and teachers to develop simple, effective strategies that have been tried and tested by those who know them best – parents of children living Asperger’s or High Functioning Autism..
I have written three books:
– David’s Gift, Asperger’s Life and Love – One family’s inspirational journey from Diagnosis to Graduation, which is our true story of how the impact of the diagnosis of Asperger’s impacted on our family, the challenges and the highlights, and how the lessons learned on the Autism Spectrum have made our family so successful today.
– Asperger’s Bullying and School – How to Teach your ASD child to Develop Bully Resilience for School and For Life, is written specifically for parents to help teach their child to develop bully resilience. Children living with Asperger’s have difficulty understanding social nuances, appropriate behaviours and responses, and hence are often targets of bullying, not only at school but also for life.
– Wise Mothers, A Parable, Raising Teenagers in the Social Media Era, looking at the challenges parents face in the era of technology, social media and mass marketing.
