Blog - Mom-Ology

Welcome my friends! I am the mom to a 9 year old boy on the Autism spectrum. We live in Canada and I am very proud to be a Canadian blogger. I LOVE to share Canadian content!! I also love to share a bit of Canadian humour here and there because most of it is, simply put, hilarious!

Get to know me:

IAccording to Wikipedia: A helicopter parent is a parent who pays extremely close attention to a child’s or children’s experiences and problems, particularly at educational institutions.

I started blogging in November 2011, shortly after I started homeschooling our son. Married for 13 years, my husband (a.k.a. Hubby) is an avid martial artist and together we run a specialized program for kids on the Autism spectrum.

Our family consists of myself, Hubby and our son, but it doesn’t end there. We also have 2 golden retrievers, Ollie and Jorga (pronounced Georgia) who add just a little more craziness to our lives! Ollie is our son’s autism service dog and Jorga – well, she’s known as “The Paper Shredding Everything Eating Goat Princess Spazmanian Devil”. Anyone care to guess who gave her that name?? Funny, she lives up to every part of her nickname too!
I have become a bit of a social media addict and use that to help raise awareness and acceptance of autism. I am an active advocate in the community for both autism and autism service dogs. I am also the Director of Social Media and Social Outreach for the I CARE Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preventing international parental child abduction and child trafficking. So you will see a great deal of information on Mom-ology about the risks and warning signs of IPCA in an effort to raise awareness and educate parents. I am extremely proud to be affiliated with the I CARE Foundation and the work that they are doing to help stop international child abduction.
