Blog - Life on the

Life on the Spectrum is an initiative set up to raise awareness of autism. We are a charitable (non-profit) organisation, relying entirely on donations to fund everything we do. We also offer information and understanding to autistic people, particularly late-diagnosed adults, to identify their issues and develop coping strategies for dealing with life.

Get to know me:

Leigh Forbes has Asperger’s syndrome. As well as managing her autism, she is a single mother to three young children, and runs a web-development business. Sometimes she copes with it all at once. Sometimes not at all.
Leigh was diagnosed in 2010, at the age of 40. She founded Life on the Spectrum to show support for other adult aspies, and to raise awareness of autism through educational talks and training. In her spare time, she climbs mountains, eats chocolate, and drinks too much coffee.

Jo is a primary-school teacher and currently a full time mum. When her husband is not working, they escape to the great outdoors in their VW Camper Van. Joanna has a love of ornithology and enjoys drawing. She was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 2012, at the age of 36.

Deborah is a professional trainer, and lives in Northamptonshire, UK. Having immediate family with Asperger’s syndrome, she has over forty years of experience in dealing with the issues involved. In her spare time, she can be found reading, cooking, or snuggling on the sofa with her two young sons.

Nicola works for Autism Sussex. She manages a team of eight community-outreach workers, supporting people with Asperger’s syndrome in their own homes. She is currently undertaking a Level 1 course on Mental Health awareness.
Amongst other things, Nicola decorates cakes in her spare time. She is married with three children, two dogs and a cat.
