Ministry of Children and Youth Services: Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD)

Services Available: Services are provided for children under the age of 18 years of age who have a severe disability. Financial assistance can be provided to assist parents or guardians with extra costs associated with caring for a child with a disability. Financial and medical criteria must be met to qualify.

Services Available: Services are available for children and adults living at home with their families. Individuals eligible for funding are those who have a developmental or physical disability resulting in ongoing functional limitations that require support beyond normal family responsibility.  Funding is provided to families on a time-limited basis.

Services Available: An RDSP helps parents and others save for the long-term financial security of a person with a severe disability. In general, any person under the age of 60 who is eligible for the Disability Tax Credit and resident in Canada can establish an RDSP. If the person is a minor, their parent or legal representative may establish the RDSP for their benefit.  Bank of Montreal is currently the only bank involved with this.

Services Available: The Trillium Drug Program provides financial assistance for drug costs for individuals who are not covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit program. Proof of income is required for eligibility.

Services Available: Income supports and employment support are available for Ontario residents 18 years and older. Eligible individuals must have a physical or mental disability that is expected to last a year or more and makes it difficult for them to care themselves, go into the community or to work.
